Board Meeting of the Carpathian Taste PU

Extraordinary Board meeting of the Carpathian Taste PU took place on September 15. The participants discussed further steps in the PU development and future plans. 

Viktor Shutkevych, Deputy Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Ukraine (Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine), delivered his welcome address over Skype. He congratulated everybody present on the start of the new program in its extended format and stressed that the project was unique and had no analogs in Ukraine, and all the participants could find something useful and relevant for them in it. He expressed hope in a new approach to cooperation, one that was based on trust and partnership.

Viktor also congratulated everyone on winning the competition of the UNDP project – Strengthening SME Business Membership Organizations. 20 business membership organizations have been selected through open competition to participate in the project, including national and regional chambers of commerce, industry organizations and universal business organizations, all-Ukrainian, regional and local level organizations, female-run businesses, and organizations representing Eastern Ukraine. Carpathian Taste PU is among the winners.

The UNDP project is called to improve the organizational and financial stability of business membership organizations as well as their ability to actively attract new members and be the centers of valid information for thousands of entrepreneurs, provide members with the most in-demand services, develop a constructive cooperation with governmental agencies and participate in the creation of state policies aimed at the development of SME sector.

During the meeting, a memorandum on the responsibility of coordinators per the direction of activities of the Carpathian Taste PU according to the approved Activity Plan has been discussed, approved, and signed.

Thus, a series of events will be developed during the program which will enable everyone who makes products under the logo of Taste of the Ukrainian Carpathians to comply with legislative requirements. In October, food safety expert Yuriy Ohlashennyi will conduct training events for the PU members dedicated to HACCP and legislation requirements. During the meeting, Vice-President Mykhailo Stovpiuk has suggested signing the Memorandum of Cooperation with Taste Route of Prykarpattia PA, which unites producers of traditional local products, cafes and restaurants, accommodation facilities, and other operators of the tourist market in Ivano-Frankivsk region into a network of gastronomic routes. The cooperation of the two organizations will promote the development of a network of gastronomic routes on the territory of Ivano-Frankivsk region and will become a platform for the exchange of experience in branding and promotion of Taste of the Ukrainian Carpathians TM and will help attract producers to the organizations.

During the meeting, the vote was held appointing Halyna Batius the Director of Carpathian Taste PU. The PU welcomed a new member from Ivano-Frankivsk – an herbal tea producer Mikh Chaiu.

The event was organized with the support of the Swiss Confederation within the framework of “Higher Value-Added Trade from the Organic and the Dairy Sector in Ukraine” programme implemented by the Swiss Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) in partnership with SAFOSO AGwww.qftp.org.

A Memorandum is Signed: Taste Route of Prykarpattia and Carpathian Taste PU

Carpathian Taste PU has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Taste Route of Prykarpattia PA, Geographical Indications in Ukraine, which unites producers of traditional local products, cafes and restaurants, accommodation facilities, and other operators of the tourist market in Ivano-Frankivsk region into a network of gastronomic routes.
The cooperation of the two organizations will promote the development of a network of gastronomic routes on the territory of Ivano-Frankivsk region and will become a platform for the exchange of experience in branding and promotion of Taste of the Ukrainian Carpathians TM and help attract producers to the organizations.

The creation of Taste Route of Prykarpattia PA is one of the elements of the EU project “Support to Development of Geographical Indications System in Ukraine” dedicated to the development of a national network of gastronomic routes – Wine and Taste Routes of Ukraine. Analogous projects are already being implemented in Odesa, Zakarpattia, and Kherson region.

Carpathian Taste PU is a professional non-profit union of small and medium-sized producers from the four regions of Ukraine (Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, and Zakarpattia) who joint their forces to popularize original, authentic, and tasty products under the Taste of Ukrainian Carpathians TM.
